Additional podcast acquisitions “Armchair Explorer” and “Gravy” will release August 2023
BOSTON, MA (August 2, 2023) – American Public Television (APT), the leading syndicator of content to U.S. public TV stations nationwide, announces the new original podcast production “If This Food Could Talk” following the formation of APT Podcast Studios in November 2022. With new episodes releasing bi-weekly beginning August 24 via Apple Podcasts, Spotify and other podcast platforms, “If This Food Could Talk” features host, producer and Mediterranean lifestyle expert Claudia Hanna as she explores the stories of food that shape who we are, where we come from, and how we live. APT has also partnered with existing podcasts that will now be distributed by APT Podcast Studios: “Armchair Explorer,” hosted and produced by Aaron Millar; and “Gravy” from the Southern Foodways Alliance.
“APT is proud to launch APT Podcast Studios with these first three podcasts. Building on our strong travel and food portfolio, our podcast content will offer unique storytelling experiences,” notes Jim Dunford, President and CEO of APT. “No matter the platform, this objective is a core principle of what we do for audiences and our public media stations.”
In the inaugural 10-episode season, “If This Food Could Talk” travels the globe to offer savory stories of how much food means and has meant to all of us, with stories ranging from the million-dollar ice-cream-making barge that was deployed by the US Navy during WWII, to the olive oil used to mummify Egyptian royalty. Guests featured in the series include public television stars Samantha Brown of Samantha Brown’s Places to Love and Diane Kochilas of My Greek Table with Diane Kochilas; as well as fermentation revivalist Sandor Katz and James Beard Award-winning chef and restauranteur Ann Kim. “If This Food Could Talk” is produced by Cariad Harmon, Jakob Lewis, Claudia Hanna, Tanner Robbins, Reva Goldberg, Nate Tobey, John Barth and the team at Great Feeling Studios. Edited by Yasmeen Khan. Concept by Claudia Hanna. The executive producers for APT Podcast Studios are Jim Dunford, Cynthia Fenneman and Shawn Halford. The trailer for “If This Food Could Talk” is available now.
Named a “Best Travel Podcast” by The Guardian and “ear candy for listeners” by The Washington Post, “Armchair Explorer” features the world’s greatest adventurers as they tell their best stories from the road, will release new episodes weekly beginning August 14. “Gravy,” which will release new episodes beginning August 16, shares stories of the changing American South through food, showcasing a South that is constantly evolving.
